Abstract

Adsorption of nickel on four different soils were studied. These were: Gujranwala series, Kotli series,
LyallpurseriesandaPacca series.EffectoforganicmatterandpHonnickeladsorptionwerestudied.The pH
greatlyinfluencedthecharacteristicsofadsorptionisotherms.KotliseriesH-Claycomplexesadsorbed more
Nithan corresponding H-clays atallpHwhilereversewastrueinPaccaseries,Gujranwalaseries andmixed
behaviourwasnotedinLyallpurseries.OrganicmattersolubilizationtookplaceatpH>5.0inLyallpurseries.
