Abstract

Field trials were undertaken with a view to promotingthe use of an indigenouspesticideTenekil (A polychlorinated
hydrocarbonofPCSIRorigin)onagriculturalcropsasatermiticide.Ground-nutorpeanut(Arachis hypogeaL.)plotswere
treatedwithTenekilattherateof6 litreperacreanditsfurtherapplicationof Istand2nd boosterdoses atan intervalof
onemonththroughirrigationtechniquewerefoundtobeeffectiveagainstsubterraneantermiteattackuntilharvestcaused
an increasein annual yield. Heptachlorand Chlordaneused as standardtermiticideswith the same concentrationsand
methodology,producedsimilarresults,whereascontrolplotsseverelyinfestedbytermites,resultedinreducedyield.
