Abstract

Anapparatus,designed anddevelopedforthemeasurementofthermalconductivity 'K' ofpowdered materialbyspherical
shellmethod,hasbeendescribed.ExtrapolationofstraightlinegraphofK-valueeagainstvaryingdensitiesofdifferentmesh
sized powder materialgives K-valueoflumps of marble. Itdocs notgive K-valueof solid material because thedensity of
compressed powdercannotbeequivalenttothedensityofnaturalmarble.K-valuesofdifferentmeshsizesmarblepowder
have been determined and resultsarediscussed with referenceto thedata already availablein literature.
